About
Made for the adult with the whistle.
Most youth and rec games are run by volunteers who have to make the heat and lightning calls with a phone in one hand. Sideline Sky puts the Weather Service forecast, the activity table and the 30-minute rule on one page, so the call is quicker and the same for everyone on the field.
Where the numbers come from
Forecasts and alerts come from the U.S. National Weather Service's public data service, api.weather.gov, for the point you give (a ZIP code is turned into the middle of its Census ZIP code area). Sideline Sky is not an official National Weather Service product and is not endorsed by it. The activity tables are the Korey Stringer Institute's regional WBGT categories; the lightning wait is the Weather Service's. See how the numbers work.
Who runs it
Sideline Sky is built and run by WeldonPC (weldonpc.com), Garfield Heights, Ohio. It sends no email and has no staff reading your desk. It is an independent tool at sportsforcepark.com: it is not connected with any park, complex, league, school or governing body.
